LOA general conference held in Wokha

Lotha Officers’ Association (LOA) held its general conference on the theme “together we work for common good” (Nzontsu tssoe nzontsu mmhon soyingta) at Wokha on Saturday.
According to a DIPR report, deputy chief minister, Y. Patton, while speaking at the programme urged upon all the officers to discharge their duties with competenceas Lotha officers were the image and mirror of the Lotha community.
He said that over the years, LOA remained instrumental in addressing issues impacting the society.
Patton also appealed to the Lotha Baptist Churches Association (LBCA) to settle their differences for the benefit of the Lotha community as the community would progress only if the people were united.
Advisor, IT, S&T and NRE, Mmhonlumo Kikon said that the voice of the people was important and expressed optimism that through the forum, various issues which ills the community would be deliberated.
The advisor also urged upon LOA to identify issues that Lotha community was facing with and deliberate on it to bring a solution.
Meanwhile, advisor, Horticulture and Border Affairs, Mhathung Yanthan in his speech said LOA was a platform focused on the benefit of the Lotha community.
LOA has a crucial role to play for the sake of future generation, he said, and urged upon all the officers to dedicate themselves to be good ambassadors for the community.
On the border issue between Assam and Nagaland, Mhathung said that both governments of Assam and Nagaland were trying their best to solve the problem.
He disclosed that five different committees had been set up to work out the differences.
Later, Dr. Chumben Murry, MLA, said that it was an awakening call to come together and share thoughts as the conference was held after a gap of three years.
He thanked LOA for sponsoring a coaching centre for aspiring candidates and said that they also need to focus on providing skill development activities to benefit local entrepreneurs.
Earlier, welcome speech was delivered by LOA president, Mhabemo Yanthan.
During the second session, deputy commissioner (DC), Wokha, Orenthung Lotha delivered a short speech while professor NU, T. Zarenthung Ezung spoke on “the role of public servants/ officers towards achieving the common good”.
