Longleng DPDB sensitised
on helpline for senior citizens

DIMAPUR: Activities of national helpline for senior citizens of Nagaland state was highlighted during Longleng District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) meeting Thursday at the Conference Hall of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Longleng.
According to a DIPR report, in a PowerPoint presentation, programme manager, Elderline Nagaland, Neithonuo Liegise said Elderline platform for senior citizens was created to redress their grievances by providing necessary information and intervention on guidance and emotional support.
She said it helps in rescuing and reunion of homeless elderly and abuse through a collective of highly committed stakeholders and partners including government agencies, non-profit organisations and that it volunteers to facilitate happy and healthy aging by serving the senior citizens with dedication and compassion. Liegise said the presentation was initiated at the DPDB meeting to sensitize the stakeholders like the police, administration, medical, District Legal Service Agency (DLSA) and other government agencies and stakeholders. She then urged the DPDB members to come forward support the welfare of our senior citizens.
Earlier, chairperson of the meeting, DC Longleng, M. Shayung Phom reiterated that members should be regular and present in their place of posting and attend government activities of the district.
The DC also lauded and acknowledged the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Longlenga Dr. Obangjungla for being awarded the phenomenal women award in recognising and appreciating her distinctive social services rendered towards the Phom-Naga community during the celebration of International Women’s Day program. He also acknowledged and appreciated the dedication of the DEF Longleng to control the maniac of drug trafficking in the district.
The board recommended for creation and functioning of Noklangkong as Adhoc-ward bifurcated from Leinak ward. DSO, Longleng, T. Mhao Humtsoe presented the activities of the sericulture department, Longleng followed by presentation of details activities of ATMA conducted during 2001-22 by PDP ATMA Longleng, Akam Zeliang.
