Manang B. Phom represents state at national consultation

Manang B. Phom, a grade 6 student from Assam Rifles Public School, ARTC 3rd Mile, Dimapur represented the national consultation from Nagaland under the aegis of Nagaland Alliance for Children and Women Rights (NACWR). A press release from president NACWR, Azungla informed that the National Action Coordination Group – Ending Violence Against Children (NACG-EVAC) & Child in Need Institute (CINI) organized a National Consultation on “Environment and Climate Change: Impact on Children,” which was held in Kolkata on December 19.


Manang presented with utmost clarity how children like her are affected by climate change. She was accompanied by N.K. Keny, who is an executive member of NACG-EVAC India. The NACG-EVAC is headed by chairperson and also the director of Chetna, Sanjay Gupta.


More than 40 children from 12 states participated in the consultation. It may be recalled that Manang B. Phom was also a participant of the State Consultation held in Dimapur on October 26, 2023 along with 36 other children, organized under the theme “State Consultation with Children on Environment and Climate Change,” sponsored by the same NACG-EVAC.


The NACWR is grateful to Gupta and Dr. Rinchen Chophei, member UNCRC Committee and Director General, SAIEVAC Regional Secretariat for giving the opportunity to participate along with other states from different parts of India.
