NDPP candidate for 23 Impur (S/T) Assembly Constituency T.N. Mannen and BJP candidate for 33 Suruhuto A/C, H. Khehovi kicked off their campaign for the upcoming assembly polls on Thursday.
T.N. Manen: The campaign for T.N. Manen was held at two places Yisemyong village and Sungratsu village. Speaking at Yisemyong, Mannen shared his vision for the constituency and explained the quote “victory belongs to those who persist and to never give up” referring to his unsuccessful contest in the election from the same constituency for the last three elections.
He went on to add that 23 Impur A/C (Asetkong range) has been in the opposition for 20 years and thus has been lacking in the much-needed developmental aspects of the area and remained neglected/isolated. He however expressed hope that this time, the area will be in the ruling dispensation which will ultimately herald in the much needed change the area has been yearning for.
Meanwhile, a number of people spoke at the programme including Yisemyong Adhoc Town Committee chairman and members, officials from NDPP and BJP. Earlier in the day, a joint declaration programme for the intending candidates of 23 Impur A/C was held at Sungratsu Senden Salang organized by the Sungratsu Village Council. The 23 Impur A/C has two candidates namely Bendangkokba, (Mopungchuket village) of INC and T.N. Mannen (Longjang Village) of NDPP. At the program, both the candidates were allowed to share their visions and dreams for the constituency.
Later in the programme, the Sungratsu Village Council Chairman Taka Longchar read out the various resolutions of the council to be adhered to by all the concerned parties which are to be strictly followed during the entire election process within the village. President of Sungratsu Senso Mungdang, Limasashi Ozukum, exhorted the gathering.
H. Khehovi: The kick off campaign for H. Khehovi was held at four locations. Addressing his supporters at Phuye Old, Naltoqa, Vedami and Aichisaghemi villagers, the BJP candidate expressed confidence in the NDPP-BJP alliance adding that the alliance will form the next government with absolute majority. Stating that the BJP at the Centre and in alliance with the NDPP in Nagaland was sincere in delivering progress and development in all sectors and called upon his supporters to join hands with him in delivering peace, progress and development in the constituency.
Highlighting the vision statement of the BJP for Nagaland, Khehovi said that the BJP has promised to continue with these welfare schemes with further enhancements of cash and incentives especially meant for the farmers, women and children.
Khehovi said that almost half of his last tenure was hampered by COVID pandemic and all development aspects were hindered. However, he said that Suruhuto-Asuto area had witnessed its due share of development despite the pandemic and expressed regret that major projects that were in the pipeline could not be implemented. He assured to continue with the development aspects if given another term and further appealed to the electorate of Suruhuto-Asuto area to look at the developmental issues that have been initiated under the BJP Government and choose the right legislator to represent the people.
The BJP candidate was accompanied by Zunheboto district BJP president Shikuto Achumi, BJP Nagaland general secretary Khevishe Achumi, Mandal president Tokhevi Aye, host of GBs, prominent leaders and elders from various villages.
