Manipur CM assures super specialty health-care facilities in hill districts

Manipur chief minister N Biren Singh on Thursday assured super specialty health-care facilities in hill districts of the hilly state.
The state government has taken a decision to construct super specialty health-care facilities/infrastructure in the four hill districts of Senapati, Ukhrul, Tamenglong and Chandel at the earliest so that patients from far-flung villages do not have to travel to Imphal or other cities for treatment, Singh said. The chief minister was addressing at the inaugural function of the Tekru-Nge celebration at Jessami village in Ukhrul bordering Nagaland today.
The festival celebrated under the theme “Walking through the diversity and richness of Jessami” will continue till January 21.
He said that at the moment, despite the lack of specialist doctors in the hill districts, treatments for diseases requiring specialist doctors were being provided through Tele-ICU.
Reiterating the developmental changes witnessed in the state since the BJP-led government was installed in the state, the chief minister said that revisit of the peace in the state has brought about the development.
Biren Singh also spoke on the need of maintaining the brotherly relations among the communities and said that only the sense of oneness among the people will bring prosperity in the state. On the other hand, the chief minister asked the deputy commissioner of the district to judiciously utilize the infrastructures being developed in the district, so that the public may reap the benefits of the infrastructures.
In response to a memorandum submitted by the residents of Jessami village, the chief minister assured of making the SBI branch in the area operational to ease monetary transaction problems facing them.
He also asked the villagers to submit a report with proper geo-tagging and mapping through the DC for the development of a wildlife sanctuary at a nearby forest area which houses different faunas including state bird “Nongyin”.
The inaugural function was also attended by transport minister KhashimVashum, social welfare minister H Dingo, MLA Thangjam Arun Kumar among others. As part of the celebration, the chief minister also dedicated the Model Residential School, LM Block, Ukhrul and Cave Tourism Project at Khangkhui Cave to the public and inaugurated display of cultural and WW-II related items. Cultural items highlighted the inaugural function.
