Manipur cops arrest two with fake ILP passes

In a follow up action to the arrest of a non-Manipuri possessing a fake ILP pass, Manipur police have arrested a local who facilitated the non-local in procuring the fake pass.
The local man was identified as Nashim Ali (24) of Yairipok Ningthounai of Imphal East district while the non-local possessing the fake ILP pass as identified as Prabir Pal (43), a resident of Uttar Nawabganj Balashi of West Bengal.
A team of Heingang police station of Imphal East district arrested them on Thursday, the police source said.
The police arrested them during an investigation into a complaint lodged by the Imphal East DC. In the complaint, the DC alleged that regular ILP passes were being issued by forging his signature.
During the investigation, the police picked up Prabir Pal from his rented house at Heingang in Imphal East district on November 8 and on spot verification, the non-local produced two ILP passes including a genuine but expired one and a fake one.
Upon further investigation, the police learnt that the non-local procured the fake ILP pass through Nashim Ali, the police said.
Nashim Ali who was picked up from his home at Yairipok in Imphal East reportedly disclosed that he facilitated non-locals in procuring fake ILP passes.
He sent copies of the genuine ILP passes to a person in Assam through Whatsapp and got fake ILP passes by him.
Police also seized three more fake ILP passes from the possession of the local man. The police produced the duo in the court of the chief judicial magistrate in Imphal who remanded them to judicial custody for 15 days.
