Correspondent

Manipur is heading forward towards development including improvement in connectivity with other states, said Manipur chief minister N Biren Singh, in his speech on the occasion of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas.
Like in other parts of the country, in Manipur too, Rashtriya Ekta Diwas was observed at various levels to mark the 147th birth anniversary of Sardar Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Iron man of India.
The state level function was held at 1st Bn Manipur Rifles Parade Ground in Imphal. Singh said every citizen of the country should know the importance of observance. “As Indians we all should take such national observations with all seriousness,” he said.
“We have been able to live a life with dignity and honour, only because of being citizens of India and born in the state of Manipur. As such we should have the highest honour for our country and birthplace,” he said.
At the same time, the chief minister said, “We have to be very careful because not only insurgents, terrorists and naxalites but many other forces are trying to disintegrate and destabilize the country.”
There were so many intellectuals and non-profit organizations which are operating under foreign funding to disintegrate the country and its states, he asserted. Many foreign countries were also trying to destabilize the peace and stability of the country by sending a huge amount of illegal drug into the country, he said.
Earlier, the chief minister inspected a march-past parade and also administered the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas pledge for all attending the function.
Rajya Sabha member LeishembaSanajaoba, ministers, MLAs, state chief secretary, DGP, civil and police officers, among others attended the function.
