Manipur observes Martyrs’ Day

Martyrs’ Day, the death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi was observed in Manipur along with the rest of the nation on Monday.
State Governor led people in offering floral tributes to the statue of Mahatma Gandhi in Imphal’s Gandhi Memorial Hall on his 75th death anniversary.
The observance began with singing of the national anthem followed by a wreath laying ceremony at Mahatma Gandhi’s statue by the Governor.
A two minute silence was also observed as a mark of respect to the departed soul.
“We must know Mahatma Gandhi and follow him. What we can learn from Mahatma Gandhi’s history is simplicity,” the Governor said.
