May 31: PM to address Garib Kalyan Sammelan

As part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav to commemorate the 75th year of Indian Independence, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will interact with beneficiaries of about 16 schemes/programmes spanning nine Central ministries/departments on May 31.
Christened “Garib Kalyan Sammelan”, the principal objective of the interaction is not only to understand how these schemes, whose beneficiaries number in crores, have brought about ease of living for the citizens and also explore possibility of convergence and saturation. This will further give an opportunity to assess the citizens’ aspiration as India completes 100 years of independence in 2047.
The sammelan is one of the largest ever single-event nationwide interaction spanning all districts where Prime Minster will interact with beneficiaries about the impact that the schemes/programmes covering housing, potable water, food, health and nutrition, livelihood, financial inclusion, etc, have had on their lives.
These schemes/programmes are Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana (both Grameen & Urban), Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi, Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, POSHAN Abhiyan, Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana, Swachh Bharat Mission (both Grameen & Urban), Jal Jeevan Mission & AMRUT, Pradhan Mantri SVANidhi Scheme, One Nation One Ration Card, Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana, Ayushman Bharat PM Jan Arogya Yojana, Ayushman Bharat Health and Wellness Centre and Pradhan Mantri MUDRA Yojana.
According to DIPR, Nagaland government will also be a part of this event and has made all necessary arrangements in this regard. The State level function will be held at Kohima and the district level functions at all district headquarters from 9:30 am.
The State level function will be held at State Cultural Hall, Kohima and will be presided over by chief minister Neiphiu Rio and attended by ministers and advisers. The district level functions will be presided by respective chairmen of District Planning and Development Board (DPDB)/advisers/deputy commissioners and attended by other dignitaries.
The State level and district level programmes will be linked with the national event at 10:55 am when the Prime Minister will be live from Shimla interacting with the beneficiaries.
The national level sammelan is being held at Shimla where Modi will directly interact with the beneficiaries, besides interacting with some beneficiaries spread across the country through videoconferencing. He will also release the 11th instalment of Kisan Samman Nidhi.
The event will be telecast live through Doordarshan in its national and regional channels. Provisions have also been made to webcast the national programme through MyGov, for which people need to register themselves. It can also be viewed through other social media channels like YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.
It was expected that the interaction would not only highlight people-centric approach of these schemes leading to ease of living of citizens, but also enlighten the government on the aspirations of the people and ensure that no one was left behind in the nation’s march to progress.
