In view of the ensuing general election to the 14th Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA), various meetings and programmes are being organised by respective district and sub-division administrations and political parties. Information is also disseminated for the smooth conduct of the election, scheduled to be held on February 27.
NCP holds high level consultative meeting: Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) Nagaland held a high-level consultative meeting on January 24 at Ura Hotel, Conference Hall. In a press release, NCP Nagaland press secretary informed that the meeting discussed several key issues regarding the upcoming general selection and the various strategies that the party would undertake for its success in the election. The meeting chaired by NCP general secretary, Joseph D Naga was addressed by NCP state president, Vanthungo Odyuo and attended by senior party leaders from different parts of the state.
DC Longleng issues directives: In connection with reports of government servants indulging in political activities and canvassing for various political parties/candidates, Deputy Commissioner (DC) and District Election Officer (DEO) Longleng, Dharam Raj has directed all government servant under Longleng district to refrain from indulging in all forms of activities related to political parties/candidates as per Rule 24 (1) (2) of Nagaland Government Servants Conduct Rules, 1968. According to a DIPR report, the DC and DEO has directed all government servants under Longleng district to maintain absolute political neutrality. If any specific complaints are received, DC and DEO warned that stern action would be initiated against the delinquent government servant.
Further, the DC and DEO Longleng has also notified all the printing presses in and around Longleng to strictly adhere to the guidelines regarding printing of election posters, pamphlets, etc. The printing press has been directed to clearly indicate in the materials (election posters, pamphlets, etc.) the names and publishers or any such other materials printed by them. DC and DEO said that it shall furnish four copies of the printed materials, along with the declaration of the publishers, hereby attached within three days of the printing thereof to the office of the DC & DEO, Longleng.
