In order to work out the modalities under Lifestyle for Environment (LiFE) Mission for MeriLiFE (ML) and MeraSwachhShehar (MSS) campaign, a meeting was held, under the directive of the Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs (MOHUA), with ward authorities including women and youth organisations along with SHGs at Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) office on May 16.
A press release from KMC informed that the objective of the campaign was to set up Collection Centres/ Reduce, Reuse, Recycle (RRR) centres for citizens to give used products such as plastic items, old books, used clothes and footwear or any other items that can be further refurbished, reused or processed at the RRR Centres.
It also informed that, apart from other RRR Centres, the RRR Centre for Ward Nos. 5,6,7,8 and 9 which were earmarked at Super Market Complex will be inaugurated on May 20.
The RRR Centres will be geo-tagged and every information would be uploaded in MeriLiFE portal as well as Swachhatam Portal, and an evaluation committee will assess the best performing RRRs and award ceremony which will be held on June 5.
The campaign will continue for three weeks and will culminate on June 5 (World Environment Day) with mass cleanliness drives across all Wards and pledge for LiFE drives, one permanent RRR Centre will be retained after the campaign period, KMC stated.
