Minister for Rural Development (RD), Metsubo Jamir on Saturday launched the “Start-up Village Entrepreneurship program (SVEP)” for Ongpangkong North & Kobulong Block” under DAY-Nagaland Rural Livelihoods Mission (NSRLM) at the Mayangnokcha Government Higher Secondary School auditorium.
Speaking at the programme as special guest, Metsubo said the SVEP was aimed at uplifting the livelihood of rural communities of India, especially the capable unemployed youth, through skill and capacity building in the Agri & allied sector.
Pointing out that white collared job was saturated, the minister said it was important for the youth and the womenfolk to focus on self-sustaining activities.
He urged upon the beneficiaries to perform with dedication and produce what the market demanded.
Metsubo expressed optimism that the launching of SVEP at Ongpangkong North & Kobulong Block would act as role models so that the state could benefit through their achievements.
Delivering the keynote address, joint secretary & mission director, Sentimenla said that it was an important occasion for NSRLM since this, she said, was the beginning of a new venture in implementation of the SVEP Phase-II.
Sentimenla said the objectives of SVEP was to enable the rural communities to set up their enterprises by developing a sustainable model for village entrepreneurship promotion through integrated ICT techniques and tools for training and capacity building, enterprise advisory services and to provide loans from banks/SHGs & federations.
She also informed that the programme aims to develop local resources by training a pool of village level community cadre (CRPEP) and build the capacity of NRLM and SHG federations to monitor
and direct the work of the CRPEPs, help rural entrepreneurs to access finance for starting their enterprises from NRLM SHGs and federations, Community Enterprise Fund (CEF) and banks.
Short speeches were also delivered by deputy commissioner (DC), Mokokchung, Shashank Pratap Singh, council chairman of Sungratsu, Takachiba and council chairman of Ungma, Nungshilepden.
The programme was chaired by ADPM, NSRLM, Mokokchung, Moatoshi and vote of thanks was proposed by project director DRDA & DMMU, NSRLM, Mokokchung, Toshimongla Kichu.
