Metsubu supports ENPO separate state demand

Minister of Rural Development (RD), Metsubu Jamir has extended support to Eastern Nagaland Peoples’ Organisation (ENPO)’s demand for separate state/frontier Nagaland, saying he “personally and morally” support the demand as it would create more avenues and opportunities for development.
According to a DIPR report, Jamir was speaking at the Eastern Nagaland Peoples’ Union Mokokchung (ENPUM) golden jubilee celebration held under the theme, “Build a Prolific Community” on December 15 at Town Hall, Mokokchung.
Jamir maintained that, “personally and morally”, he was supportive of the demand because it would create more avenues and opportunities for development which would be a blessing for the future generation. He also went on to mention his long association with the people of Eastern Nagaland and their contributions towards the development of Mokokchung town.
Stating that people from Eastern Nagaland are socially and culturally second to none, he said the term “backward” could be associated with the infrastructural development but not as people because there are many intellects who have immensely contributed to the state. Highlights of the programme included a solidarity speech from former MP, Padma K. Asungba Sangtam; jubilee greetings by ENPO president, Tsapikyu Sangtam and members from Ao Senden; words from Pioneer by ENPUM first president, Langshi Khiamniungan, jubilee message by secretary, ECS, Rev.
