After being allotted incharge of departments, the newly appointed ministers, advisors and chairman held coordination meetings with their respective departments. Apart from this, departments also organised introductory and felicitation programmes to welcome the ministers, advisors and chairman.
T.R. Zeliang addresses P&T meeting
Planning and Transformation: Department of Planning and Transformation (P&T) held a meeting with the deputy chief minister incharge of Planning & National Highways T.R. Zeliang at Nagaland Civil Secretariat Conference Hall on April 12.
A DIRP report stated that Zeliang speaking at the meeting, said that re-naming of Planning & Coordination Department to Planning & Transformation was necessitated due to the many changes in the development and planning domain during the past years. He informed the DPOs to re- activate and to update themselves with the progress of development activities taking place in the district and sub- division under various departments so that the department can transform the face of the state. Earlier, the programme began with an invocation by deputy development commissioner Kezunyipeu Teno.
Welcome address was delivered by principal secretary & development commissioner, R. Ramakrishan. A presentation about Planning Department was made by deputy development commissioner Chorayi Veyie. Deputy development commissioner, Pudusul Luho presented about the schemes and project director Er. Mhathung Kithan presented about GIS & RS Centre.
Jacob Zhimomi visits Cooperative Societies office
Cooperation: Minister, Public Health Engineering (PHE) and Cooperation, Jacob Zhimomi on April 12 visited Cooperative Societies office in Kohima after taking over as the minister in-charge and held a meeting with the officials at Registrar of Cooperative Societies office, Kohima.
Addressing the officials and staff of Cooperation department, Jacob said the department has huge potential to uplift the people of the state and called upon the officers and staff to work hand in hand for the welfare of the public.
Suggesting that the department explore new arenas such as piggery as Nagas are “meat lovers”, the minister said there was a “huge fiscal responsibility for meat procurement.”
He pointed out the state spend huge amount of money in procuring meat from other parts of the country and mooted the need to sit with the Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Services to work out a collective venture. While commending the “One Village, One Cooperative Society” module, Jacob also called to focus on the need to streamline the non-performing cooperative societies.
Speeches were also delivered by commissioner and secretary, Sehjang Doungel and registrar of co-operative societies Nagaland, Temjen Longkumer while deputy registrar of co-operative societies, Bokato Hesso delivered the introductory remark. (Correspondent)

Horti Dept fetes Salhoutuonuo Kruse
Horti Deptt.: A felicitation programme for the newly inducted minister of Horticulture, Salhoutuonuo Kruse was held on April 12 at the Conference Hall of the Directorate of Horticulture.
In her address, Kruse appreciated the programmes and activities organised by the department for the farmers and encouraged them to work harder than before so as to uplift the people and farmers of the state.
Commissioner and secretary, Women Resource Development and Horticulture, Anenla T Sato while congratulating the minister on her induction as the first women cabinet minister of the state, hoped that she (Kruse) would take the department to new heights.
As a front runner among the agri and allied departments, Sato said the department had helped in popularizing the state even in the recently concluded G20.
She also advised the department to identify the gaps and lapses and identify the potential crops and to motivate the farmers to produce the niche crops so that the state’s economy can be uplifted.
DoS&WC holds felicitation programme for Imkong L. Imchen
DoS&WC: Department of Soil and Water Conservation (DoS&WC) organised a felicitation programme for its advisor, Imkong L. Imchen, and a valedictory programme of 21st Batch, Soil Conservation Assistant (SCA) trainees on April 12 at Research and Training Centre, Sechu Zubza.
According to a DIPR report, Imkong L. Imchen said that every government employee was bound to serve the people and likewise he was there to serve the people and deliver good governance.
The advisor assured to “negotiate with the government” to give more priority to the graduated Soil and Conservation Assistant (SCA), regarding job placement as per the availability of the vacancies since the job itself involves technical experts.
Imchen also lamented that due to the meagre allocation of budget and paucity of funds, the department could not perform its fullest potential as desired and had faced unforeseen negative impacts over the years.
The advisor said 107 highly qualified officers in the department were left with nothing to do despite having high technical and scientific knowledge to boost up the departmental activities in many areas due to low budgetary allocation. However, he assured fullest cooperation to uplift and bring more changes to the department.
Additional director and principal, Research, and Training Centre Sechu Zubza, L. Chubaonen, on behalf of the department, welcomed the advisor. He also hoped that the passed-out 21st Batch SCA would execute their work with enthusiasm along with the existing workforce in the department.
The programme was chaired by commissioner and secretary S&WC, Libanthung Lotha and a felicitation address was delivered by director, S.K Hekshe.
NH&TDCL holds introductory meeting with Thongwang Konyak
NH&TDCL: An introductory meeting and felicitation programme for the chairman of Nagaland Hotels & Tourism Development Corporation Limited (NH&TDCL), Thongwang Konyak was held on April 12 at the official chamber of chairman, Head Office, NHTDC, Dimapur.
