Ministry for PwDs, women launched

Roshni Mantraalay Ministry (RMM) an initiative of Nagamese Baptist Church Kevijau (NBCK) to work for upliftment of women, Person with disabilities (PwDs) and for social well-being was launched at NBCK on Sunday.
The ministry will also be opened to all PwDs irrespective of denomination, race or culture, and weekly regular devotional service will be conducted at 1:30 pm every Sunday.
Highlighting on the RMM, pastor, NBCK Lanuakum Ozukum said that the ministry will work for social concerns and to educate people on ways of preserving a healthy psycho – social – economic wellbeing.
He said under RMM, it will undertake on following four campaigns- Nari Abhiyan an initiative for women up-liftment and self-employment, Prakrti Abhiyan for conserving ecology, Bala Abhiyan for awareness on better parenting and child abuse, Nyay Abhiyan justice for people with disabilities (PwD).
He informed that the ministry has been named in Hindi for wide exposure so that people from all walks of background in the country could understand and take benefits of the various campaigns under the ministry.
Disability commissioner Deithono Nakhro, who was the special guest at the programme, said that PwDs were not second class citizens in the society, but belong to same status as normal human being. She said it was the society that indirectly and directly maintained distance with PwDs, which has created a huge vacuum for them to explore the possible opportunity.
Nakhro said that inclusion of disabilities in all platforms and education institute will provide them competitive environment in all career aspects.
She said churches were powerful platform and can act as a role model, therefore appealed to take the initiative of RMM, and create awareness so that PwDs could be brought under one umbrella and provide them every necessary schemes and opportunity.
Earlier, the programme was chaired by pastor NBCK Lanuakum Ozukum and invocation by deacon NBCK Toshi Ozukum, Founder of ‘Living Bread Ministry’ S. Aosungkum Ozüküm shared testimonies of his ministry, message and act of inauguration by Rev. Alem Jamir, vote of thanks by deaconess, Nagamese Baptist Church Kevijau Sunita.
