Moatoshi Longkumer, MLA inaugurated the Signal Angami village-Kevijau colony link road, here, on Monday.
Addressing the gathering after the inaugural programme, Moatoshi stated that one should not depend on government alone for all-round development of a colony or Dimapur as a whole. He said that the public would have to come forward to contribute for the development of their welfare and not only depend on the state government for all round development.
“If we depend only on government, nothing will move in the state”, the MLA added.
He pointed out that the inauguration and completion of the link road was perfect example of a joint venture between council members and responsible MLA.
Moatoshi also acknowledged the council members and all involved in the construction the road for executing and completion of the road in time and also for utilising the funds in a scrupulous manner.
He hoped that the recently inaugurated road would be beneficial for all colony members and also those plying through the road. He lamented that Nagas lacked civic sense and many were not willing to donate even two to three foot of their lands for development of the colony.
The MLA also said that Dimapur faced rapid drainage problems due to lack of proper drainage system.
He stated that it was the duty of council members to convince the responsible families to sacrifice minimal lands for their benefit and colony residents.
Earlier, the programme was chaired by Kevijau Colony Council (KCC) chairman, Nokchi Jamir and invocation was said by Signal Angami Village council member, B Tushan Phom.
Short speeches were also delivered by Signal Angami Village head GB, Eyongol Natso, KCC executive member, Lepzuk Jamir while benediction was said by KCC executive member, Luangbe Zeliang.
