District administration in collaboration with the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) conducted a mock drill in Chümoukedima on Friday.
According to a DPRo Dimapur report, the mock drill exercise was carried out, assuming the scenario of an earthquake of magnitude 8.7 Richter scale striking Chümoukedima.
During the drill, an alarm was sounded and the Incident Report Team (IRT) communicated with the emergency operation centre DEOC & RO, deputy commissioner (DC) Chümoukedima.
The DC then briefed the IRT, strick team and incident commanders followed by the rescue operation team from fire brigade, NDRF and DDMA pressing into action for the rescue.
Various rescue operation techniques were displayed at the incident side at St Joseph Higher Secondary School and Bituo marketing complex Chümoukedima.
Meanwhile, commandant 1st NAP, Aaron Patton, assistant commandant Sanjay Prasad Sharma 12 NDRF and assistant manager NSDMA Temsuwanshi Jamir witnessed the entire event of mock drill as observers and various suggestions were put forth to the district administration.
Niuland: DDMA in collaboration with NDRF team conducted a mock drill in Niuland district on April 6, under the chairmanship of DC Niuland & chairman DDMA, Ajit Kumar Verma.
According to a DIPR report, the mock drill exercise was conducted assuming the scenario of an earthquake of magnitude 7.8 Richter striking Niuland.
After the disaster alarm was sounded, Emergency Operation Centre was activated and agencies including operation section, logistic section and planning sections were communicated.
The personnel from NDRF and DDMA were pressed into action and various rescue operation systems were displayed.
Meanwhile, assistant commandant NDRF, deputy commandant CTI HGCD- SDRF, Dimapur and Consultant NSDMA as observers witnessed the mock drill event and acknowledged the professionalism displayed by the personnel.
