District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Wokha along with Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) conducted a mock drill exercise in Wokha on March 16.
According to a DIPR report, during the mock drill exercise, a simulating earthquake scenario was conducted at police point for high rise rescue exercise; Mt. Tiyi College for building collapse, fire incident, search and rescue operations and evacuation; Wokha Town Council (WTC) building for fire incident; District Hospital for serious patient treatment; District Emergency Operation Centre (DEOC) in the conference hall of the deputy commissioner (DC) and Staging Area at local ground.
The mock drill exercise was conducted as a preparedness measure and was jointly organised by DDMA Wokha in collaboration with Home guards and Civil Defense and SDRF Wokha, 12 BN NDRF (Force), Fire & Emergency Services (F&ES) Wokha and District Executive Force (DEF) Wokha personnel. The main staging area was held at Wokha local ground, where NDRF, SDRF, BSG and other line departments and stake holders reported at the area after emergency siren was sounded. During the drill, the DEOC was set up in the conference hall of the DC. The search and rescue team involved 34 personnel of SDRF, 33 NDRF and 20 personnel of Fire & Emergency Service.
Later, incident commander & ADC Wokha, Lankonsen Tsanglao while debriefing the programme acknowledged all the personnel of SDRF and NDRF, F&ES, other line departments, stakeholders, Mt. Tiyi College and others for making the drill a success.
