Mon District Planning & Development Board (DPDB) and District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) meetings were held on May 16 at the Conference Hall of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Mon, Office.
According to DIPR reports, the Mon DPDB meeting was held under the chairmanship of DC Mon, Ajit Kumar Verma, wherein the members discussed a “major repair” of the bridge between the New Site and the main Bazar Mon town, and forwarded the issue to Department of Under Developed Area (DUDA) and Mon DPDB, chairman.
The board also discussed the construction of a 132 KV transmission line from Longleng to Mon with a 2×25 MVA Sub-Station at Mon Town as an alternative power line. The Yei Students’ Union registration was forwarded to the concerned department for the same. During the meeting opening of Laifa School at Chingkao, Aboi, Goodwill School Mon and renewal of provisional recognition up to Class 5 And Class 8 recognition of Eastwood School Mon were approved. A PowerPoint presentation about the “Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan” district level awareness campaign at Mon district was presented by
SDO(C) Mon, Rongsenmenla. During the meeting, DC Mon called upon the members to be proactive in the Officer’s Club. New office bearers were inducted in view of many officers being transferred out from Mon.
DDMA: Mon DDMA conducted a quarterly meeting of DDMA, wherein DC Mon, Ajit Kumar Verma, called the members to review the pre-monsoon preparedness in the district. Superintendent of Police Mon, Uniel Kichu requested all the members to work in unity and proper coordination among the members for the progress of the district.
The following departments briefed their preparedness for pre-monsoon – PWD (R&B)/ Housing, Out Post Administration of Town Councils, District Education Officer, Food & Civil Supplies, Chief Medical Officer, Veterinary and Animals Husbandry, Power, Home Guards & Civil Defence SDRF, Fire & Emergency Services.
