Based on reliable information regarding “extortion of money from online courier boys”, Mon police personnel of Naginimora police station along with 11th NAP IR D Coy and 6th NAP A Coy launched a joint operation on June 30 and apprehended two persons and seized one .32 pistol (country made).
According to Mon police PRO, the two accused namely Taoyan Konyak (38) son of Pongyong Konyak of Wakching village presently residing at Bamjong Colony, Naginimora and Tangpa Konyak (40) son of Lt. Shaopa Konyak of Wakching village were apprehended near police check gate. Upon body search, PRO said the pistol was recovered from accused Tangpa Konyak. In this connection a case has been registered and further investigation was on, PRO informed.
Nagaland police recover Yaba tablets worth Rs. 20 lakh
Acting on a tip off, Nagaland police personnel of Narcotic Cell (NC) mobile unit on Friday arrested David Jamkholun Baite (27), s/o Lt. Thangsei Baite, v/o Chalson Tengnoupal, Tengnoupal, Manipur; Thongminthang (31), s/o Lt. Tongpu, v/o Moreh, ward no-2, Mission Veng, Tengnoupal, Manipur on charges of possessing 1 lakh suspected Yaba tablets (WY). According to police PRO, the personnel intercepted a Guwahati-bound brown Renault Duster Saloon, bearing registration number AS01-DB-4512, travelling from Imphal near Peducha, Kohima at around 1 am.
PRO informed that on searching the vehicle, 1 lakh suspected Yaba Tablets (WY) were neatly wrapped with yellow tape in 10 different packets containing 10,000 tablets each, concealed inside a “specially built compartment near the spare tyre.” The approximate value of the recovered contraband is around Rs. 20 lakh, PRO said. The suspected contraband items were seized and the two occupants of the vehicle were arrested.
Later, a case was registered with NC police station for further investigation, PRO informed.
