Mongsenbai to face Dilong in Mkginter-ward football tourney final

Mongsenbai Ward will lock horn with Dilong Ward in the final match of the ongoing 3rd Mokokchung inter-ward football tournament to be played on May 14 at 1 pm in Mokokchung.
Playing the second semi-final match Thursday, Mongsenbai Ward trounced Lijaba Lijen Ward with a solitary goal to book their berth for the final.
In a highly contested match, both the teams tried to prove their mettle in the field as they fought for game dominance. However, none could overpower each other till the half time with the scoreboard 0-0 on both the sides.
The game unfolded after the breather only when the Mongsenbai team was awarded a penalty after a foul was committed inside the D-box by one of Lijaba Lijen’s players. Subsequently, a penalty kick was swiftly taken by Shiponglepba of Mongsenbai Ward in the 55th minute.
The lone score proved to be enough for the Mongsenbai team to be victorious in the game thus making them enter into the final.
During the match, four yellow cards (two each to both the teams) were awarded for unsporting behaviour. The match patron for the second semi-final match was general secretary AKM, Nekmi Longkumer.
The organizers of the tournament, Marepkong Youth Association have prepared a brief closing on Saturday where District Sports Officer (DSO) Mokokchung, Mangla Imchen, will grace the programme as the guest of honour.
