More reports on ‘World Water Day’

In an effort to raise awareness on the importance of water conservation and highlight the global water crisis, Nagaland observed the “World Water Day” under 2023 theme, “Accelerating the change to solve the water and sanitation crisis.”
DAN: Development Association of Nagaland (DAN) under “Morung Project” observed “World Water Day” on March 22 at Sacred Heart Higher Secondary School (SHHSS), Chizami village under Phek District. During the programme, regional coordinator, Tshekulhi Aku Thopi spoke on the significance the day. He said that due to the increasing population, the need for more water source was also increasing and that several places across the state are also starting to face acute scarcity of water due to inefficient water management system. Thopi challenged the students to be a problem solver and not a problem maker, and further encouraged the students to be innovative and bring solution to the problems the world is facing. A short speech on “World Water Day” was also delivered by Mhuwa-u Wezah of Class 10. To mark the occasion, several competitions such as model exhibition and presentation on water conservation, sketching and costume display competitions were also organised.
NEISSR: North East Institute of Social Sciences & Research (NEISSR) observed “World Water Day” on March 22, wherein NEISSR principal, Fr. Dr. C.P. Anto stressed on the urgent importance of using water sparingly and suggested to develop a strategic plan of action for conserving drinking water and sanitation for sustainable development. He also said that the government and private institutions should work hand in hand to accelerate change to provide safe drinking water and sanitation to communities, institutions and families respectively. On the occasion, a water purifier sponsored by South Indian Bank under CSR project was also inaugurated.
SCC: Sao Chang College (SCC) department of Zoology in collaboration with Jal Shakti Committee, Sao Chang College, observed “World Water Day 2023” on March 22. The college infirmed that the students from different colleges participated in the photography with slogan competition through their creative presentations. The winners were adjudged based on their creativity, originality and theme relevance.
NavSahyog: NavSahyog Foundation observed World Water Day on March 22 to inculcate the value of water in the village children. The event witnessed the children participating by writing slogans, drawings, pond modelling with the stones, plants and readily available resources from their surroundings and dance performance on “The Mission Paani Anthem Song”.
