Union Minister of State for Jal Shakti and Tribal Affairs, Bishweswar Tudu, who is on his maiden two-day visit to the State, on Tuesday inspected the works carried out under Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) at visited Seithekema-A village under Chümoukedima district.
Office of the executive engineer PHED (Rural) Dimapur, in a press note, informed that the minister, during interaction with the villagers said that the villages have been made accessible to tap connections at household level after 75 years of independence under PM Modi’s leadership.
Tadu asked the villagers if there was any difference after implementation of JJM. The minister expressed happiness that the villagers were operating the distribution system and collecting Rs.30 per month as user charge. It was reported that retrofitting scheme was taken up at Seithekema-A village under JJM and completed during 2021.
Around 93 households have been provided with functional household tap connections fulfilling the aspirations of the mission.
During this visit, union minister was accompanied by officials from PHED including officers from PHED rural division, Dimapur and EAC Seithekema.
Earlier, village council chairman, Kelengulie Khro, received the minister along with other members of the village council and WATSAN committee. The village council chairman expressed gratitude to the prime minister Narendra Modi for his “visionary leadership” in bringing the basic needs of the villagers to the forefront and improving the quality of living. He also acknowledged PHED minister Jacob Zhimomi for inclusion of Seithekema-A village under this scheme ahead of others.
