Along with the rest of the world, the Muslim community in Nagaland also observed Eid-ul-Fitr.
In Dimapur, over 6,000 thousand Muslims gathered here at Iddgah ground Saturday morning to offer ‘namaz’ (mass prayers) on the occasion of Eid.
Members of the Muslim community also exchanged greetings and offered sweets to neighbours and friends from other communities. In Kohima, the Muslim community celebrated Eid at the Masjid, Naga bazaar.
“It is a time to relish traditional delicacies, exchanging gifts and offering charity and also put on your best accessories,” general secretary of Kohima Masjid Committee, Sayef Uddin said. The festival of breaking the fast signifies the end of the month-long dawn-to-sunset fasting of Ramazan.
The committee also wished Eid Mubarak to all and expressed their heart-full gratitude to all people of Nagaland for always cooperating with them not only during the Eid but whenever necessary never we needed.
