Nobin Thapa and Athrong Yimkhiung, who represented Nagaland at the I Compete Natural (ICN) have won medals in Mumbai on November 5. The event was an open competition in various categories such as natural fitness modelling, bodybuilding, figure, physique, bikini and fashion. More than 60 contestants from all over India competed in the national event.
Nobin Thapa from Kohima won third position in the street model and 4th position in men’s physique.
Athrong Yimkhiung, who hails from Peren Town, won second position in men’s runway model and 4th place in men’s physique.
During a press conference in Kohima on Thursday, Thapa informed that he participated at the event after receiving prior permission from the Nagaland Bodybuilding Association.
Body building being an expensive sport, Thapa said he faced many barriers especially financial constraints during his eight years journey. However, Thapa added that his passion and sheer dedication motivated him to achieve his dream.
The body builder attributed his success to his mother, well-wishers and Gorkha community, who he said have constantly extended support through prayer and finance. He also expressed hope to participate in other competitions in the days to come.
It may be noted that Thapa also participated and won various national events. He was also placed in the top 4 of Mr. Nagaland 2019.
