Naga Sepaktakraw medalists accorded warm welcome

Naga players, who recently represented India and won medals at the recently held 35th Kings Cup, World Sepaktakraw Championship in Bangkok, Thailand, were accorded warm welcome in a programme jointly organized by Dimapur District Sports Council (DDSC) and Nagaland Sepaktakraw Association (NSTA), on Wednesday, here at Dimapur Airport.
Viseyie Koso was the captain of men’s team India, which won the gold medal while Akumtila and Sezovelu Dozo represented the country in the women’s team and won bronze medal.
Addressing the gathering, DC Dimapur, Sachin Jaiswal, who is also the chairman of DDSC, while congratulating all three players, said even though Nagaland was a small state, the three medallions had brought laurels to the entire nation. He also added that even though Sepak takraw was not a very popular sport, he expressed gratitude to all the three players for their hard work and determination to bring medals not only for the state but for the entire country, despite the poor sports stadium in the state.
He further expressed hope that more laurels would be brought to the state as well as the country.
Meanwhile, addressing media after the welcoming programme, all three expressed gratitude to all for the warm welcome, whilst also acknowledging the sacrifice and determination of their coach.
The players expressed hope to bring more medals for the state and the country, while also lamented on the poor sports infrastructure and stadiums in the state.
It can be noted that the welcome programme was led by president NSTA, Ruokuo Kire and short speeches also delivered by DGP Sports team, Viswema Youth Organisation, Thüvopisümi Youth Association, Dimapur Area, while several other youth and sports organizations were also present.
