6th Edition of the Agape Cup, Nagaland Christian Football Championship, would be held from May 10-12, 2022 at Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima. The championship, which is being organised by Sports Coalition of India and hosted by Gethemgo Sports International (GSI), would witness participation from at least ten states. 6th Agape Cup has been endorsed by Nagaland Football Association.
Addressing a press conference, GSI convenor, Kekhrielelie Tseikha, highlighted the history of GSI, which he said was initiated “for lifetime voluntary service to build the Kingdom of God in serving the communities in the world of sports”.
GIS director, Dr Viposa, disclosed that this year altogether 10 states—Goa, Kerela, Odhisha, West Bengal, Manipur, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura, Jharkhand and Nagaland—would compete for the title and trophy.
According to the organisers, more than 200 footballers are expected to compete in the tournament. All the players would be lodged at Jubilee Memorial Hall, Lerie Colony.
Agape Cup is an initiative of Christian Sports Ministries since 2013, which was envisaged by the SCI.
The mission of the cup is to promote, spread and propagate the gospel through this tournament. It will also help prepare Indian National Christian Team for selection to the Unity World Tournament scheduled for 2024.
Advisor youth resources and sports, Er Zale Neikha would grace the inaugural function as special guest and NFA president K Neibou Sekhose as guest of honour.
