Nagaland: Book on mental health released in Kohima

A book on mental health titled, “Out of the Woods’”, authored by Dr. Neikehienuo Mepfu-o was released at Kohima College, here, on August 26.
Speaking at the programme, Dr. Neikehienuo Mepfhu-o said it was a venture into Naga society’s perception and outlook on people with mental health issues.
The author said with the progress to build greater mental health awareness in communities, the goal should be to “inform” and “not to offend.” She hoped that the book would help people empathise with people and families dealing with mental health issues.
Dr. Neikehienuo informed that the novel was solely focused on sensitising people on mental illness.
Delivering the publisher’s note, PenThrill Publication House, Vishu Rita Krocha spoke on how the novel impacts the mind of readers and at the same time, was a challenge to the societal norms while also providing invaluable insights. She said mental health issues were so prevalent in Naga society and lauded the author for the courage shown in her writing.
Nagaland Building & Other Construction Workers Welfare Board (NBOCEWB), Dr. Kekhrie Yhome also highlighted the significance of mental issues among Nagas and stressed on the importance of helping those people.
The programme was chaired by HoD, Sociology department, Dr. Kekhrieseno Christina, prayer by assistant professor, Political Science department, Dr. Kethokhrieü and special number by Visaleü Mepfhüo while a speech was delivered by assistant professor, Dr. Theyiesinuo Keditsu.
