Two English Premier League Fan Clubs of Nagaland namely NagaKop, the Official Liverpool Supporters’ Club (OLSC) Nagaland and Chelsea Fans Nagaland (CFN) organised a friendly football match at IG Stadium, Kohima on June 11. NagaKop registered a runaway 6-1 win over the Chelsea Fans Nagaland with a brace each from Akika, Akhrie and Kevi. While Sunep Imchen scored a consolation goal for the CFN. The officials for the match were Samuel, Repa and Ren, who are also currently officiating in the ongoing Morning Premier League organised by the Morning Football Association.
The Official Liverpool Supporters Club and Chelsea Fans Nagaland were founded primarily to bring together all their supporters under one roof and organise regular match screenings of their respective clubs. These Fan Clubs are formed purely out of passion and not over monetary profit.
The event was organised to bring together the ever-growing fan base of the two English Premier League clubs in Nagaland and allow the supporters to celebrate the game and the club they love and provide a way of meeting fellow fans.
In the post-match gathering, members and executives of both the Fan clubs expressed delight and happiness over the huge turnout of members at the event with fans even coming up all the way from Zubza and Dimapur, besides Kohima, which greatly contributed to the success of the event. Convenor of CFN, Rovikotuo Yhoshu, said that the friendly match was just the start of many more other events that has been planned out for the future. He expressed hope that other supporters club will also join forces in organising such events on a regular basis and opined on the start of futsal or football tournaments and leagues amongst the Supporters clubs of Nagaland in the future. President of Official Liverpool Supporters Club, Imchuyanger, thanked all the fans from both clubs for their participation and hoped to organize more such events in the days to come.
