Addressing the gathering, special guest and advisor to Chief Minister, Abu Metha congratulated the teams for qualifying for the Elite group and reminded the players that there were hundreds of people from different professions who worked tirelessly behind the scenes. Describing Cricket as an education, Metha said cricket teaches respect and teamwork, and tests character where one would have to make decisions according to the situation. He also remidned that the most-watched human activity in the world is sports and sports unify people, adding that it understands no language, tribe, or race.
Abu while encouraging the players, also reminded them that once they wear the Nagaland jersey they become the ambassadors representing two million Nagas. He said there is no shortcut in sports, and one has to perform on the ground with sheer hardwork.

He said Nagaland Cricket has witnessed perpetual growth over the years and acknowledged the three teams that have qualified for the Elite group.
