DIMAPUR: Kohima police on July 29, arrested one Abhijit Hazarika (24), s/o Sunil Hazarika from Ranthali Nagaon, presently residing at Ranthali Assam, on charges of possessing 10 packets of suspected heroin.
According to Kohima police PRO, around 8 pm, the police personnel of Narcotic Cell (NC) PS mobile unit intercepted a Guwahati-bound pearl arctic white Maruti Suzuki Swift VXI, bearing registration number AP39LK-4717 at NH-2, near bridge between Khuzama and Viswema village which was coming from Imphal, Manipur.
On thorough search of the vehicle, the team recovered 10 packets of suspected opium weighing approximately 10 kg, which was concealed inside the spare tyre of the vehicle.
Accordingly, the driver of the vehicle was arrested and the illegal contraband was seized.
PRO informed that a case was registered with NC police station under NDPS Act, for further investigation.
