Nagaland Olympic: Tseminyü, Phek enter semis in football


Tseminyü and Phek reached the semifinals in the football event of the Nagaland Olympic and Paralympic Games 2022, at IG Stadium on Wednesday.
In the third quarter final, Tseminyü beat Chümoukedima 1-0. The lone goal was scored by captain, Yhunshalo Kent. Although Chümoukedima made some impressive attempts, none of it turned out to be good enough to earn them an equaliser and after a tormenting full-time, had to bow out of the tournament.
In the last quarter final, Phek scored two late goals against Mokokchung and secured itself a place in the top four slot.
After a goalless first half, Phek’s captain, Rhitso Mero netted the first goal through a spot kick in the 59th minute.
And in less than two minutes of the first goal, Phek’s Yhoto Lohe doubled the score and further established its dominance.
Thereafter, Mokokchung tried its best by making several attempts however none of it materialised.
Tseminyü and Phek will join Dimapur and Peren in the semifinal.
Thursday’s semi-final matches
1st SF 4:00 p.m.
Peren Vs Tseminyü
2nd SF 6:10 p.m.
Dimapur Vs Phek.
