Interacting with media persons in the presence of SJU faculty members, Patton said he took up road construction as assured by him during SJU’s first convocation programme, which was held in March 2022. The deputy CM had assured to sanction an amount of Rs. 15-20 lakh for the construction of the road leading to SJU campus and also construct a police station near the University.
Patton said that total expenditure for road construction was around Rs.18.30 lakh.
The deputy CM said he took road construction in the interest of students, who were earlier plying on dusty road. On his assurance to construct police station near the university campus, Patton said that the construction of the Station Cricket Stadium located at Sovima, Chümoukedima district, was already completed. He said the station was supposed to be inaugurated on Friday, but since it coincided with the commemoration of ‘Police commemoration Day’, it would be inaugurated in the first week of November in the presence of chief minister Neiphiu Rio.
