Nagaland: Security coordination meeting held for G-20 event

With Centre planning to hold key G20 meetings in the North Eastern states after India formally assumed the yearlong Presidency of the influential group on December 1, preparations have begun in Nagaland with the State government holding a Security Coordination Committee (SCC) meeting on Thursday.
The first ‘SCC meeting G-20 Event Nagaland’ was held at the DGP’s conference hall PHQ, chaired DGP T John Longkumer.
Senior police officers, including ADGP (L&O), IGP (Range), IGP (Tech), SP (SB) and AIG (Ops)/State Security Coordinator, attended the meeting along with other stakeholders including Health & Family Welfare principal director, Tourism director, Assam Rifles, CRPF, CG HG, Airport Authority of India, airport security, Kohima SP and DCPs of Chümoukedima and Dimapur attended the meeting.
It may be mentioned that a central team led by Harsh V Shringla, chief coordinator for India’s G20 presidency and former Foreign Secretary and Ambassador to USA was in Nagaland last month and held series of meeting with senior officials and had also met chief minister Neiphiu Rio.
The team was in Nagaland to explore the opportunities to showcase India’s cultural diversity through G20 programme and also review the requirements for holding the G20 business meeting in Nagaland in April 2023.
