A training on Revamped National Panchayat Awards (RNPA) for District Level Officials (TOTs) was held on Friday, at Rural Development (RD) conference hall, directorate of RD, Kohima.
In a press release, the department informed that in a keynote address, commissioner and secretary, RD, Neposo Theluo said the union minister of Panchayati Raj on December 2021 released the report on Localization of Sustainable Development Goals (LSDGs) through Panchayati Raj institutions prepared by an expert committee.
He said the committee in its report identified nine themes aggregating 17 SDGs for action at Local Gram Panchayat level as a way forward for attainment of SDGs by the year 2030.
Theluo said the ministry was revamping panchayat awards to establish a multi-level competition to reorganize, felicitate and incentivize the best performing panchayats at the block, district, state and national levels in thematic areas related to localization and achievement of the SDGs in rural areas.
In case of Nagaland, Theluo said only gram panchayats would be applying for these awards and the department has constituted Nagaland panchayati awards monitoring and assessment committee comprising of nine members involving all line departments.
Towards this, he called upon all line departments to give special attention to panchayat award schemes and guide the village functionaries to fill up the forms properly.
The resource person for the training were, principal ETC Phek (SIRD), Dr Kedise, additional director, health and family welfare, Dr Motsuthung Patton, deputy director, school education, Avino Tase, S.E, PHED Gwatilo Tep and assistant director, social welfare, T. Neingusalie.
Earlier, introductory remark on RNPA was delivered by undersecretary, RD, Lithrila Sangtam. The programme was chaired by senior lecturer (SIRD) Dr Juthsutho Phoji while director, RD, Liboni Humtsoe delivered the welcome address.
