DIMAPUR: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) and Botany department, Nagaland University organised training & demonstration programme at Tichipami Village under Suruhoto Block, Zunheboto district on April 8.
In a press release, NU informed that in the morning session, principal scientist and head, KVK Zunheboto, Dr. Rakesh Kumar Chaurasia imparted training and demonstration on Integrated Pest Management (IPM) in summer vegetables.
The women farmers were provided with information on packaging practices of cultivation of vegetable crops and inputs including summer vegetable seeds, yellow sticky traps, neem oil, shade net and sprayer.
Meanwhile, in the afternoon session, assistant professor, department of Botany, Dr. A. Paul imparted training on mushroom cultivation for sustainable development of tribal farmers.
The women farmers were trained and demonstrated on cultivation of oyster and shitake which he said was very profitable and fetched a premium price in the market.
Farmers were provided with spawns of oyster and shitake so that they can start cultivation of mushroom.
Altogether, 11 women SHGs along with members of the village council attended the programme.
