Nagaland Assembly Secretariat Staff Association (NASSA) and Joint Action Committee (JAC), which is opposing the appointment of Dr. PJ Antony (retired officer) to the post of principal secretary NLA secretariat, Monday announced its decision to continue with indefinite the agitation starting June 21, 2022.
In a joint statement, NASSA general secretor Talirenla and JAC secretary Sezoto Theyo said the decision was taken after a sitting with the parliamentary committee chairman on June 20, 2022. The signatories said they have so far received no response from the state government regarding their demand for revocation of the appointment order of Dr. PJ Antony.
In their earlier meeting held on June 15, 2022, they said the committee assured to look into the matter at the earliest and requested NASSA/JAC to relax agitation and resume the work. However, they said much to their dismay of the NASSA/JAC, the committee failed to convey any concrete response from the government.
NASSA said that they have, therefore, resolved to continue the agitation till the appointment order of Dr. PJ Antony was revoked.
The signatories said that all developmental works inside the office building of the assembly secretariat as well as all e-Vidhan related works would be halt during the agitation period.
They said that the nature of agitation would remain the same– “pen down strike and wearing black badges.”
Further, the NASSA and JAC, as resolved earlier, have decided to continue to prevent Dr. PJ Antony from entering the assembly premises.
