NASU biennial conference underway

Correspondent

The 47th Biennial Conference of Northern Angami Students’ Union (NASU) began at Zhadima village ground under the theme, “Pergere Progressus” on Saturday.
Hosted by Zhadima Students’ Union, the special guest of the inaugural program was, professor, deptt of English, Nagaland University, Dr. Rosemary Dzüvichü. She congratulated the union for coming a long way in looking after the members and also contributing in development of the student’s community.
She said NASU members were fortunate as they were from an area which was slightly ahead in terms of infrastructure, education and other amenities as compared to some other parts of the state.
She therefore urged them to reassess on how prepared they were when it came to their studies.
Dr. Dzüvichü pointed out that in the recent past many students consider matriculation and graduation as a benchmark and discontinue their studies after it.
However, she said, times had changed and now a better qualified person was more eligible and prospective in their positions even while looking for jobs.
She observed that local apex bodies should look after the welfare of the students especially by providing scholarships, funds and loans for start-ups and business ventures.
Dr Dzüvichü also suggested that rich people should invest in educational institutions and other recreational activities to help the youths.
The inaugural programme was chaired by Viketouzo Yashü and invocation by priest incharge, Sts Peter & Paul Church, Zhadima, Rev Fr Joyal, VC.
NASU president Aneizo Keditsu delivered the president’s address while greetings were conveyed by Angami Students Union and Northern Angami Public Organization.
A special number was presented by Nerhema Students Union and the event was hosted by Medolenuo Ambrocia Loucü and Azha Mezhü.
