National Lok Adalat: NSLSA disposes 211 cases

District Legal Services Authorities (DLSAs) of the Nagaland State Legal Services Authority (NSLSA) under the aegis of National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) constituted 11 Lok Adalat sitting benches at respective district headquarters and disposed 211 cases/disputes on Saturday.
In a press release, PRA NSLSA, Ketholeno Neihu informed that this was the 2nd quarterly National Lok Adalat for the current financial year and was conducted for settling disputes/cases pending in the court of law or at pre-litigation stage through compromised and amicable means.
Out of the total 642 disputes/matters/cases listed for compromise settlement, 211 cases were disposed, which included cases in pending stage and in pre-litigation stage mostly in the category of bank recovery, criminal compoundable cases & Motor Accident Cases Tribunal (MACT) and public utility.
Settlement amount involved in some of the cases amounted to a total of Rs. 3,14,95,820, the PRA informed.
Kohima DLSA conducted National Lok Adalat at district court building Kohima where a total of 450 cases was put up before the Lok Adalat including one civil case and 200 telephone/mobile bill cases. Altogether, 54 cases were settled with a total settlement amount of Rs. 8,04,723.15.
In Kiphire, out of 12 cases taken up for listing, five cases were disposed with a total settlement amount of Rs. 2,90,187.50.
At Peren, 21 cases (bank loan defaulters) were settled a total amount of Rs. 16,73,341 was recovered.
Mon DLSA held NLA at DLSA front office and took up 20 bank recovery cases out of which five cases were settled with a total settlement amount of Rs. 258000.
Wokha DLSA conducted Lok Adalat in the conference hall of the District Court Complex Wokha where out of 11 cases, mostly were pre litigation, criminal compoundable and bank recovery. 10 cases were disposed of with a total settlement amount of Rs. 43,76,358.
In Mokokchung, seven cases were disposed, out of eight cases taken up which included bank recovery at pre litigation stage and criminal compoundable with a settlement amount of Rs. 332568.6.
Zunheboto DLSA conducted National Lok Adalat at Nagaland State Co-operative Bank, Zunheboto where three cases were taken and two were disposed.
In Longleng, the DLSA dealt with nine banks and disposed of nine cases with total settlement of Rs. 3,49,500. Tuensang DLSA conducted National Lok Adalat where 24 cases were taken up and 19 cases were disposed with a total settlement amount of Rs.9,70,468.
Under Dimapur DLSA, 59 cases were taken up and the total settlement amount was Rs. 1,93,77,678.
Phek DLSA conducted National Lok Adalat where 26 cases were taken up and 21 were disposed. The total amount settled was Rs. 20,78,711.
