Planning & Coordination, Land Revenue and Parliamentary Affairs minister Neiba Kronu Thursday predicted that current chief minister Neiphiu Rio will continue even in the next term, for which NPF legislators had merged with NDPP.
Addressing a meeting of office-bearers of Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) Pfutsero Assembly constituency (AC) unit at TT Stadium, Pfutsero in Phek district, Kronu said NDPP will also form the next government. He urged upon party workers of Phek to work hard for candidates and witness more development and progress.
“I am confident and you should also be confident, that we will form the next government with absolute majority and take the State towards development and progress,” he said and also appealed on all toe continue supporting Rio.
Kronu said that with the Assembly elections approaching, different political parties would come up with manifestos and assurances, but appealed to people not to be swayed by them.
A third-time MLA from the constituency, Kronu also claimed that he had been doing the best towards bringing all-round development to Pfutsero constituency in particular and Phek dis-trict in general, especially road connectivity, despite being the lone minister from the district.
Kronu also said that the UDA government under the chief minister Rio was seriously working on Naga political issue as all Nagas want solution.
He said the government has been urging upon Naga negotiators to bring about an early solu-tion.
He said that all 60 MLAs and two MPs will be attending the parliamentary committee consul-tative meeting at the State Banquet Hall on July 16 from 10:30 am where the core committee would update the MPs and MLAs about initiatives taken so far.
Kronu reiterated that the Parliamentary Committee was serious about early solution as desired by the Nagas, as early solution will be good for all.
He also said the UDA government was trying to create pressure through the Parliamentary Committee in order to secure early solution since the Naga peace process had been under ne-gotiations for the past 25 years.
Senior NDPP leader K Puro called upon party workers to remain loyal to the party’s ideology and principles and work in unison to expand the base. He also urged the people to support Kronu and re-elect him in the next Assembly elections for all-round development.
NDPP Phek region youth president Merhaso Pfüno also requested the party workers to strengthen the leadership of Kronu to enjoy the fruits of development.
The meeting also unanimously declared total confidence in the leadership of NDPP president Chingwang Konyak and chief minister Neiphiu Rio.
Further, it also unanimously recommended and decided to support Kronu as a candidate in the next Assembly elections.
NDPP Pfutsero A/C unit further pledged allegiance to the party, its constitution and work wholeheartedly towards the growth and expansion of the party.
The meeting was chaired by NDPP PfutseroA/C unit president Dingulo Khutsoh and com-menced after invocation prayer by Pfutsero Town Baptist Church pastor Velacuyi Khamo. The party’s Pfutsero unit vice-president Nerayi Thuluo delivered the welcome address and benediction pronounced by NDPP Pfutsero Town Unit chaplain Ruyosayi Chuzho.
