Northern Angami Youth Organization (NAYO) has expressed anguish over the judgment of Kohima Bench of Gauhati High Court sentencing Yuirenga M R Shimray to 10 years of imprisonment and fine of Rs. 5000 for the murder of police inspector, Neiphretuo Metsieo on September 7, 2018.
In a statement, NAYO president, Roko Angami and general secretary, Ruokuoneitso Kire said sentencing Yuirenga M R Shimary for 10 years of imprisonment and imposing a fine of Rs. 5000 was “undue” for a murderer, who had defied all norms of a civilized society.
The organization stated that Yuirenga should be punished with the highest degree of the law and his accomplice Ringthingchon Lungarwoshi also with the same degree of punishment.
NAYO further appealed to the highest decision making authority to sincerely look into the issue with seriousness affirming that it will not cease to defy the justice meted to its member. The organization also stated that it will steadfastly hold what was just and right for its member(s) and the Naga community.
