Nagaland chief minister Neiphiu Rio and deputy chief minister Y Patton have asserted that the BJP-NDPP alliance was “rock solid”.
They stated this in a video message after holding a closed-door meeting along with BJP North East co-convenor Rituraj Sinha and NDPP secretary general Abu Metha.
Rio also appealed to voters to cast their votes in favour of the alliance. He exuded the confidence to form the next government once again. Rio said that the ground situation indicated that both NDPP-BJP alliance would be getting a thumping majority.
Meanwhile, taking to twitter, Rituraj said that the chief minister also urged the people to ignore rebel candidates, who were misguiding and claimed both BJP and NDPP were fully cooperating and supporting each other’s candidates.
Patton also expressed the confidence the alliance partners would get a thumping victory in the upcoming Assembly elections. He also pledged to usher in a new era of peace and fast-track development under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Rio.
It may be mentioned that the joint declaration comes days after reports of the alliance coming under strain following the recent ticket distribution, where most of the aspirants who were denied NDPP and BJP tickets had joined other parties like the NCP and LJP (RV).
BJP national spokesperson and Nagaland in-charge Nalin Kohli on Saturday categorically dismissed of a crisis, and asserted that “the alliance is strong and was always strong.”
