To promote football in the Northeast region, Genesis Max Foundation in association with Assam Don Bosco University, Guwahati will be organizing the Northeast Pride Cup, football tournament among the Northeastern States from September 24 onwards.
Informing this, CEO of Genesis Max Foundation, Abijeet Oberio said that the purpose of the tournament was to encourage football in the region and also to develop psychosocial qualities like sportsmanship team spirit and leadership.
North East Pride Cup is an amateur open tournament for players under the categories of U-14, U-16 and U-19 in the North Eastern States and will be played on knock-out format. 19 zone-wise tournaments will be conducted in two phases across the North East India region where schools, academies and individuals in each zone can participate.
The tournament will begin from Shillong and in Nagaland it will be conducted at Kohima, Dimapur and Chümoukedima.
The best team from each zone will qualify for the final in Guwahati and fight for the North East Pride Cup.
The best teams and players will win cash prizes worth Rs. 3 lakh.
At Chümoukedima, the organizers have partnered with CDFA, who will help them conduct the tournament, get registration and provide a better platform for the district and Nagaland.
