NEIAPS for paediatricians in all NE health institutions

Northeast Chapter of Indian Association of Pediatric Surgeons (NEIAPS) objective to have a paediatric surgeon in every health institution of the north east and to make the chapter vibrant was highlighted during its 17th Northeast Chapter of Indian Association of Pediatric Surgeons Conference (NEIAPSCON) Wednesday at Hotel Japfü Kohima.
Presenting a report of the Northeast chapter of IAPS, NEIAPS secretary, Dr Toijam Soni Lyndoh acknowledged that the chapter has still much to do in the coming years, particularly as it gets close to the milestone of having paediatric surgeons in every health Institutions of the north east.
He said NEIAPS was a platform for the paediatrics from across the northeast region to come together and inspire each other, exchange idea, learn from each other and to be productive colleagues and friends.
Dr. Lyndoh said the NEIAPS was formed by pioneers namely Late professor (Retd) HK Borah, professor (Retd) NC Bhattacharyya, Dr Moji Jini, Dr Jayanta Goswami, Dr Hemonta Dutta, Dr Kikon and many others in the year 2003, and became full-fledged chapter on December 2008.
The secretary also mentioned that it has been an endeavour of the chapter to hold its conference in different parts of the northeast region.
He said informed that a total of 28 paediatric surgeons from every northeast state except Tripura are members of the chapter. 11 members from Assam followed by four each from Meghalaya and Nagaland, three each from Arunachal Pradesh and Manipur, two from Mizoram and one from Sikkim.
Earlier, special guest of the event, principal director of health and family welfare Nagaland, Dr Vikato Kinimi said paediatricians were endowed with the responsibility to look after the children and called them life savers and nurturers of children.
Dr. Kinimi also commended the paediatrics fraternity for their work and expounded on the importance of their job while encouraging them to continue to be in the service of mankind.
Earlier welcome address was delivered by chairperson NEIAPS cum organising chairman NEIAPSCON 2022, Dr Renchamo Kikon while a song was presented by student nurses of Naga Hospital Authority Kohima and vote of thanks was delivered by organising secretary NEIAPSCON 2022, Dr Sedengulie Nagi. The special guest also released a souvenir.
