NEP 2020 a future-oriented initiative: Gov

Nagaland governor Prof. Jagdish Mukhi on Thursday said that the National Education Policy (NEP 2020) was a progressive and future-oriented initiative, which proposes various reforms in school education as well as higher education including technical education in the country.
According to a Raj Bhavan statement, Prof. Mukhi, who on Thursday visited Kendriya Vidyalaya, Lerie Kohima and interacted with students and teachers, said that NEP 2020 addresses critical issues such as equitable access to higher education, bridging the gap between current and desirable learning outcomes with more impetus on cognitive skills, social and emotional skills.
Governor said that more than the degrees it was the knowledge that gives one immense intellectual satisfaction. Therefore, he said it was the responsibility of the schools, whether government of private, to provide holistic education to students so they could efficiently discharge their duties to themselves, to the community, to the nation as a whole and to humanity at large.
“Our objective about Education is to excel as duty-conscious and decent citizens of India, keeping our Motherland in mind and the feeling of Nationalism up-front and to strive and contribute to the growth and development of our nation,” he said. Prof. Mukhi stated that Kendriya Vidyalaya, Lerie, established in the year 1999, has emerged as one of the prestigious schools in town. He said that an institution must contribute towards empowering the community.
Mukhi also suggested the students to dream big in life and work hard to achieve the goal as there was no shortcut to success. He advised the students to take guidance of parents and teachers in deciding the choices of their career ahead and develop the practice of building a strong will power.
Governor also urged the teachers to give their utmost best for the growth and welfare of the school and most importantly for nurturing, moulding and upbringing the students in spite of several shortcomings in terms of infrastructure, communication etc.
