Nepotism and corruption will be wiped out from M’laya : Sonowal

Correspondent

Continuing his tirade against the National People’s Party-led Meghalaya Democratic Alliance government, Union Minister and senior BJP leader, Sarbananda Sonowal on Thursday urged electorates to vote for the BJP whose only agenda is “peace and progress of Meghalaya”.
Election to the 60-member Meghalaya Assembly is scheduled to be held on February 27. The counting of votes will be held on March 2.
Drumming up support for his party candidates Rahinath Barchung contesting from the Tikrikilla assembly seat LAC; Benedict Marak from Raksamgre, Sukharam K. Sangma from Resubelpara and Sengnab Ch. Momin from Mendipathar, Sonowal said BJP has been working diligently to wipe out corruption and empowering talent to make nepotism irrelevant.
“People of Meghalaya were ripped off development and progress by the twin evil of nepotism and rampant corruption. People deserve better as India under the Modi government is working diligently to become an Atmanirbhar Bharat in this Amrit Kaal. Meghalaya, with its rich natural beauty and resources, and diverse talent pool, is poised to unlock a tremendous opportunity to progress and develop,” the former Assam Chief Minister said.
Describing the NPP-led government and previous Congress government as “corrupt and nepotistic”, Sonowal said, “We know how these twin evils once dominated the national narrative but due to the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his welfare schemes for the betterment of society and empowerment of people, those, who live by these twin evils, have become peripheral.” “You have seen how the Congress and NPP have repeatedly deceived people and deprived them of the fruits of progress and development,” he said.
Under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi , he said more than 80 crore people are receiving free ration every month under the Antodaya programme.
“Northeast has claimed its long-aspired stand under Modi as it is ready to become the engine of progress for India. Meghalaya is an important state where people deserve to be part of this historic moment and bring progress and prosperity to their state. By voting BJP to the government in Meghalaya, the non-stop development of Modi government will amp up opportunities in the state and serve the aspirations of the people,” he said.
