NEZCC Dimapur organises ‘border area programme’

DIMAPUR: A two-day “border area programme” on the theme, “Bridging the Border” was organised by North East Zone Cultural Centre (NEZCC) Dimapur under union Ministry of Culture, government of India from March 21-22 at Sheanghah Chingnyu Village & Chenmoho Village (Indo Myanmar Border), Mon district.
In a press release, NEZCC informed that the programme organised in collaboration with the department of Art and Culture was graced by extra assistant commissioner (EAC) Longshen Mon, Imliwabang Aier and sub-divisional officer (SDO Civil) Chen Mon, Relise Sangtam on March 21 and March 22 respectively.
The centre informed that 182 artistes from Jharkhand, Bihar, Sikkim, Meghalaya and local troupes participated in the festival. The cultural troupe presented Chhau/Chhou folk dance from Jharkhand, Jat Jatin and Jhijhia folk dances from Bihar, Tamang Selo folk dance from Sikkim and Wangala folk dance from Meghalaya. The local cultural troupes also presented their rich and vibrant eye-catching folk song and dances.
NEZCC said that border area programme was organised for the people living along international border areas and giving them a chance to participate in the cultural activities.
Cultural troupes from other states were also given opportunities to participate in this programme, the centre informed.
