Assembly (NLA) secretariat has fixed the conference hall, annexe room of the NLA secretariat as the place at which election by the members of NLA would be undertaken to fill one seat in the Rajya Sabha on the retirement of KG Kenye on April 2, 2022.
In a notification, additional secretary & returning officer Khruohituonuo Rio notified that nomination papers should be delivered by a candidate or his proposer to the RO or to ARO at Room No. 65, NLA secretariat, between 11am and 3pm on any day (other than public holiday) not later than March 21. Forms of nomination paper could be obtained at the same place and time. The nomination papers will be taken up for scrutiny at 12 noon on March 22 in the office of the returning officer.
Notice of withdrawal of candidature should be delivered by a candidate or his proposers or his election agent, who has been authorized in writing by the candidate, before 3pm on March 24, 2022.
In the event of the election being contested, the poll will be taken on March 31, 2022 between 9am and 4pm.
Meanwhile, the returning officer informed that no nominations for the lone Rajya Sabha election had been received till 3pm on March 14, 2022.
