Noklak Police conferred SKOCH Gold Award

Noklak district police received the ‘Skoch Gold award’ for the successful carrying out the fight against drug menace and insurgency by imparting education and livelihood skills.
The award was received by Dr. Pritpal Kaur Batra, former SP of Noklak who was instrumental in bringing about the change in the district through various initiatives.
Dr. Pritpal said that 480 drug users were trained and taught livelihood skills in partnership with ITEC Noklak and Police church, Noklak. She said that through various initiatives and trainings, many had benefited and were now engaged in earning their livelihood.
The award was also given in recognition for providing UPSC and NPSC coaching, setting up of computer labs, library, science museum, food processing units etc.
Other innovations included battery-operated electric bike developed by two local innovators from the district under the theme “Not Guns But Machines”, drying machine etc. Besides this, Dr Pritpal was also instrumental in establishing the Khiamniungan Women Weaving Cooperative Society Noklak—‘Mother’s Love’ that makes local and traditional products. Further, Noklak Masterpieces was also launched, that produces handicrafts and variety of items.
All these initiatives were to address unemployment issues, combat drug abuse and also empower women and youth for a self-reliant community.
