‘Non-functioning ITIs to be wound up’: Moatoshi

Advisor of Labour, Employment Skill Development & Entrepreneurship and Excise, Moatoshi Longkumer, who inspected Industrial Training Institute (ITI) and Employment Exchange, Mokokchung on Saturday said that “non-functioning ITIs will have to wind up”.
A DIPR report informed that the advisor who interacted with the principal and employees of ITI Mokokchung, was impressed by the number of students at ITI, Mokokchung. He said out of the nine ITIs in the State, there were hardly any students in some of the ITIs.
On being informed that ITI Mokokchung was one of the best in the State, he asked the teachers/instructors to be zealous in imparting training to the students with sincerity so that they could compete and at par with other ITIs even outside the State.
Moatoshi further said that institutes cannot give employment but there were ways to support and pave ways for the trainees to get employed once the training complete.
At the interactions, principal, ITI, Mokokchung, T. Imlisunep. Ao, informed on the shortage of instructors and the urgent need of some renovation work in the institution while the Staff also shared their grievances, to which the advisor assured that everything would be looked into in his capacity. However, the advisor cautioned that non- performing staff would be side lined.
Earlier in the day, Moatoshi visited the Employment Exchange, Mokokchung and interacted with the employees. He asked the employees to be regular in office and to carry out their duties with sincerity and dedication. The advisor was accompanied by Director, Kovi Meyase, Joint Director, Savio Visa and other officials from the department.
